I'm Ready for Halloween: Hangin' with Mr. Whimsie Spider

G'day friends. Thanks for hanging around and sticking it out with me. ;) Cheesy line much - but it's sooo fitting for the card I'm showcasing! So first and foremost, do you see the fake gourds and orange lilies in the background of that photo? Yes - I have a funny story about those. I know that most of you are trying to enjoy the last bits of summer, but I am ready for Fall now! I made Beau go shopping with me for Fall decorations the other night. I've been looking high and low and was absolutely delighted when I saw an aisle at Wal-Mart. It appears that the stores are still in summer and back to school mode and unfortnately (lol) I will have to wait a bit before the Fall stuff arrives.

Oh and fyi - I still haven't figured out what to dress up as for Halloween yet! Egads, this cannot be. I need to sit down and do some researching soon. For all those who think I am silly, I know - but I can't help loving this fun and frightful holiday! ;) Do you have any ideas for me?

When I saw the Hanging Around image, I knew I had to make a suspension card to emphasize the spider hanging on from a web. It was a fairly easy card to make: I inserted the green brads onto the damask paper and then layered it on top of the black cardstock. Use the scallop circle die cut to make the window. Add the spider web paper to the inside. Add your layered sentiment to the middle and tie a ribbon with a bow to the top or the card.

Voila, c'est fini! I hope you love this card as much as I do and please stop by soon again!

Supplies: Paper: Bazzill cardstock, Making Memories Spellbound pattenered paper. Accessories: Copic markers, Michael's ribbon, dollar store brads, string, Spellbinder's Nestabilities scallop circle, Stickles glitter glue, white gel pen.

Whimsie Doodles First Day Backpack TLC232

Gosh, "hump day" already? My weekend zoomed by - I met so many different people during my volunteering at the WPFG! I was exhausted coming home everyday because I spent 6 hours in the sun walking around and chatting with various people. I remember one of those days, I just passed out on the couch, in full volunteer gear after eating lunch lol Ooops!

Anyway, enough talk from me - the project I created before the weekend (but didn't have time to post) was this backpack project. I got the template from a SCS Tutorial. Get your Backpack Box template here.

Remember the last School project I created with the Whimsie Doodles images? I thought that the colours were neutral enough to be used for a male of female teacher, but the Beau thought rather differently. So for this project, I decided to use more masculine colours. Hmph. The images used can be found in the School Things set as well as the School Sentiments Buttons I figured that this would be a neat little treat to give your son OR daughter ;) on the first day of school. Whether they find it on the kitchen counter or their real backpack later, it would be perfect to hold that little snack.

I laughed at what I chose to put in the baggie because it's pure sugar... can you imagine your little one on a sugar rush and totally running around on the first day? Good first impressions... hey, what can I say - I'm not a mommy yet - I dunno what to feed kids!
Thanks for dropping by, I'll see you soon again.

Supplies: Images - Whimsie Doodles. Paper - Stampin Up. Accessories - blue grosgrain ribbon, Making Memories eyelets, Copic markers, Crop-a-dile.

Edited to add: Didn't realize this was a SCS TLC this week. :) I participated without even knowing it...

Whimsie Doodles Release Day: School Theme

WOO HOO! G'day to all my friends in the blogging world and my fellow Canadians (who have a long weekend). It's Whimsie Release Day and this time, Melyssa has created a line up for all your little ones and their teachers! Today's projects use images from the Thank You Teacher set. I hope you played along with the Release Day giveaways and that you, loyal reader, won an image!

The inside of the card. Ahhh... yes, a proud Canadian I am... Timmy's giftcard! lol

I also made a coordinating bookmark that complements the card or can be given to a separate teacher. ;) The petite sayings are from Cornish Heritage Farm and the "thanks so much" is a rub on.
